Hello and thank you for visiting this site It's another great initiative of the LGAQ and I commend those involved. Although I have had the good fortune to travel widely, Maryborough has always been my home town. Known as the Heritage City, Maryborough is proud of its history and rich heritage. So it was a proud moment to make history in 2004 as the first female to be elected as Mayor. Prior to that, I had served as a Councillor since 1997. My background is in accounting and finance which led to management in both public and private organisations - large and small. A lifetime of service through welfare organisations and sport also helped prepare me for the role of Councillor by providing a better understanding of the dynamics of groups and the community. Although relatively stable in population terms, Maryborough remains economically strong with our industries leading their field. Our Council has been actively promoting and marketing our city to ensure that it remains relevant in these fast changing times. It is an exciting time to be on Council and an exciting time to be in Maryborough. |
